Siempre me gustó Händel, pero recién antes de ver esta obertura ví un fragmento de otra aria de Händel. Curioso porque llegué a esto desde un comentario politico sobre Pappi.

Lejos de ser mi favorito cantando Haendel pero esto le quedó bien.

She's making it look easy

I’ve seen Frau twice: with Nilsson and Marton, and many years later with Goerke, Megan Miller, Kerl, Rutter. It is quite a spectacle! Perhaps not as great as Elektra or Rosenkavalier, but stunning nonetheless.

Non sento il gelo che sa trasmettere quel mostro di bravura di Diana Damrau, che ad ogni nota sembra infliggere una stilettata di ghiaccio. Indiscutibile la bravura di madame Dessay, ma non è il suo ruolo migliore. L'ho ammirata di più ne "I racconti di Hoffman".

The cadenza at the very end is so magical it makes me cry every time.

You have to believe here that Don G and Leporello have already fallen into the abuss. No palazzo, no food, orchestra, or guests. For a better and traditional staging, check out the MET from 1978. James Morris and Gabriel Becquier head an amazing cast that pulls Richard Bonynge along just fine in the pit. And the drama is clearly laid out on the sets [and their changes]. That said, the orchestra and singers handle this quite brilliantly. Audio-only would be worth a purchase if there were a final scene.

So, in the end the entire audience is reflected in the mirror ball and become part of the opera?
